The Lakeside Sports Complex is the first of 3D's major transformational projects to be completed. It opened in December 2006, having been completed on time and on budget.
3D was responsible for:
- Preparing the business case
- Establishing a specialist independent management company to run the complex on a viable commercial basis
- Procurement of the facility
- Project managing the delivery of the project
The £32 million project delivered state of the art sport and community facilities at a single high quality venue at Doncaster Lakeside. Residents are benefiting from significantly improved amenities and businesses have access to a first class venue for corporate hospitality and business functions.
The centrepiece of the sports complex is the 15,000 seat Keepmoat Stadium. The complex also includes a 500 seat mini-stand that overlooks athletics provision, a number of football pitches, a health and fitness suite and educational facilities.
The venue is home to the Doncaster Rovers Football Club, the Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies Football Club, the Doncaster Rugby League Club and Doncaster Athletic Club. The Keepmoat Stadium also hosts numerous special events including live pop concerts.
