Doncaster is booming and is fast becoming a vibrant, diverse 21st Century city, capable of competing with the best European and international cities.

Doncaster has taken a unique approach to regeneration by setting up 3D - Doncaster Development Direction, a pioneering strategic partnership between Doncaster Council, KPMG and DTZ. 3D has a major role in the transformation of Doncaster, with the projects that it is responsible for delivering fitting into the wider economic regeneration of the town. The partnership brings together the extensive knowledge and network of the local government team, with the strategic insight, financial management and property expertise of the private sector.

Doncaster has attracted over £1.5 billion of investment in less than a decade by concentrating on a market-led approach to regeneration. This has resulted in both the urban centre and surrounding areas undergoing massive regeneration, including the transformation of brownfield sites into some of the most valuable real estate outside of London. The investment has also supported the creation of over 22,000 new jobs, this is evidence of Doncaster’s firm commitment towards helping investors and businesses locate and grow in the Borough.

The investment in Doncaster has been significantly boosted by the UK’s newest international airport - Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield International Airport, which is expecting to deal with 2.33 million passengers and 50,000 tonnes of freight by 2014. The airport is another part of Doncaster’s excellent transport network, which includes the A1, M1, M18 and M62 motorways, and the East Coast Mainline railway. This means that businesses in Doncaster are only ever 90 minutes from London and an hour from the Hull ports.

As well as the projects outlined in detail here, Doncaster is making the most of its size as the largest geographical Borough in the country, by maximising the use of brownfield sites to provide a range of business parks and industrial sites. Developments such as Firstpoint, West Moor Park and the Red House Interchange, offers businesses a thriving commercial and industrial environment in one of the best locations in the UK.

At the same time, Doncaster is focused on becoming a place where people want to live. Along with the Lakeside Sports Complex and Town Moor leisure projects, Doncaster is a top-20 shopping location, with the opening of the 861,000 sq ft Frenchgate Centre and Transport Interchange.

Doncaster is committed to quality, sustainable developments that will ensure the long-term economic regeneration of the Borough, and to making the vision of a world-class city a reality.
