Town Moor, home of the St Leger, the oldest classic race in the country, is one of Doncaster’s best known assets. Town Moor serves both the national and international market, acting as a focal point for not only the racing community but the exhibition, conference and hospitality businesses too.
The redevelopment of Town Moor is significant for both Doncaster and the region as a whole. 3D led on the development of the Masterplan and business plan for Town Moor, which has enhanced the complex to ensure that it remains a first class racing venue comprising of world-class facilities.
In December 2005, Doncaster Racecourse Management Company Ltd, a joint venture Company between Arena Leisure Plc and the Council, was developed to ensure the long-term future of Doncaster Racecourse, home of the St Leger the world’s oldest classic horse race.
Work on the £35 million redevelopment started in January 2006 and the racecourse re-opened in August 2007. The development included:
• A brand new purpose built grandstand
• Massive refurbishment of remaining facilities
• Radical enhancement of exhibition and conference facilities
• Relocation of stables
• Relocation of bloodstock facilities
